Edmunds saw an opportunity in a new line of business working with affinity partnerships. We needed to create a car shopping experience that would take people seamlessly from a partner's web site into a premium experience where members could unlock exclusive, guaranteed offers.
Insights from surveys and interviews conducted with dealers, member shoppers and potential affinity partners helped us define an experience that would have no advertising, would allow shoppers to use their membership login to unlock prices, and would be a simpler, easier experience than currently available on Edmunds.com. Most importantly, we'd leverage Edmunds' amazing content – reviews, Live Help and pricing, perks + benefits, while maintaining the service members expect from their association. And we'd do it responsively.
We created a clean, sophisticated experience neutral of Edmunds branding and because the designs had to work with multiple affinity partners, we took a modular design approach. Individual modules allowed for partner customization, so shoppers can go back and forth between car shopping and the partner's products and offerings smoothly. The modular approach also supported our responsive guidelines, with the additional benefits of development efficiency and scalability.
